The pegboard is a wall storage and decoration tool that can be adapted to any room in the house or office. But not all spaces have the same constraints or needs. Size, thickness, finish, type of accessories: here is the complete guide to choosing the right Aire pegboard according to the room.
What is a pegboard and how does it work?
A pegboard is a board with regularly spaced holes (at Aire: 6.1 mm diameter, 30 mm center distance) into which stainless steel pins are inserted to hang hooks, shelves, pots, rods, and all types of accessories. The configuration changes in a few seconds, without tools. This is Aire's founding principle: modular, evolving, and always aesthetic storage.
Manufactured in Paris in the CAP18 workshop, from Finnish birch plywood, Aire pegboards are available in several sizes, thicknesses, and finishes. They are compatible with the entire range of Aire accessories.
The pegboard in the entryway
The entryway is often the most neglected room in terms of storage, yet it is the first one people see. A pegboard in the entryway elegantly solves problems of keys, coats, bags, mail, and shoes.
Recommended size: S (48 x 48 cm) or M (96 x 48 cm) depending on the width of the hallway.
Recommended thickness: 9 mm or 15 mm.
Suitable accessories: single and double hooks for coats, low shelf for keys and mail, photo holder for memos, pen pot, hook for helmets or bags.
Recommended finish: colored tinted oil to add character right from the entrance.
The pegboard in the kitchen
The kitchen is the room where the pegboard best demonstrates its usefulness. It frees up worktops and drawers by utilizing the vertical wall space between the worktop and the suspended cupboards.
Recommended size: M (96 x 48 cm) or L (96 x 96 cm).
Recommended thickness: 15 mm to support accessories and shelves.
Suitable accessories: hooks for utensils, shelves for spices, utensil pots, rods for dishcloths.
Recommended finish: matte or tinted oiled wood to resist ambient humidity.
Aire shelves are perforated at the edge to prevent accidental falls — an exclusive innovation that distinguishes them from simple boards placed on dowels.
The pegboard in the home office
The office is the space where the pegboard excels in productivity. It replaces a chaotic drawer bottom with a visible, organized, and inspiring dashboard.
Recommended size: M (96 x 48 cm) placed behind the screen or on the side wall.
Recommended thickness: 9 mm or 15 mm.
Suitable accessories: pen pots, shelves for books and notebooks, hooks for headphones, picture rail for posters, magnetic note clip.
Recommended finish: natural raw or tinted wood depending on the office atmosphere.
Note: Decathlon, Google, and LVMH have trusted Aire to equip their workspaces with custom-made pegboards.
The pegboard in the bedroom
In the bedroom, the pegboard becomes a decorative element as much as a storage tool. It advantageously replaces a headboard or a classic wall shelf.
Recommended size: M or L depending on available space.
Recommended thickness: 9 mm for visual lightness.
Suitable accessories: hooks for jewelry or belts, shelves for books and candles, photo holder or picture rail, pot for pencils and night notebook.
Recommended finish: pastel shade (green, blue, yellow) for a soft ambiance.
The pegboard in the workshop or garage
This is the historical use of the pegboard: organizing tools. But the Aire version brings a quality and aesthetic well above the industrial standard.
Recommended size: L (96 x 96 cm) or XL (144 x 96 cm), or even custom-made.
Recommended thickness: 21 mm for freestanding pegboards with feet, 15 mm for wall-mounted.
Suitable accessories: sturdy hooks, wide shelves, pots for small parts, specific supports.
Allowable load: up to 160 kg/m² on concrete or cinder block.
The pegboard in a boutique or pop-up store
Aire pegboards are highly popular with many brands — Longchamp, OMY, Maison Farida — for displaying products with style and flexibility. The configuration can be changed between two events in a few minutes.
Recommended size: custom-made or combined L/XL modules.
Recommended type: freestanding pegboards with casters, or wall-mounted.
Suitable accessories: hooks, picture rails, shelves, personalized signage.
Custom-made: Aire can create accessories in your brand's image.
How to fix a pegboard regardless of the support?
All Aire pegboards are supplied with Fischer Duopower multi-material screws and anchors, compatible with concrete, brick, cinder block, and plasterboard (BA13). Drilling at 5.5 or 6 mm. Spacers are provided to maintain an 18 mm gap between the back of the panel and the wall, which is necessary for the proper functioning of the accessories. Installation in 10 minutes flat.
In summary: which pegboard for which room?
Entryway: S or M, 9-15 mm, tinted oil. Kitchen: M or L, 15 mm, matte oiled. Office: M, 9-15 mm, natural finish. Bedroom: M or L, 9 mm, pastel shade. Workshop/garage: L or XL, 15-21 mm. Boutique/event: custom-made, freestanding or wall-mounted.
Whatever your space, an Aire configuration exists. And if it doesn't exist yet, Aire will custom-make it.
